Our Church at Prayer…

June 3, 2016 by Church Office

Inviting you to think about our own church community, the wider church, the world!

  • We give thanks for our musicians and singers. We give thanks for those who look after our sound and data projection. We give thanks for the diversity of our congregation of all ages, races, traditions and peoples of the world!
  • This week we pray for the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture. For the programs they run with Indigenous People and Inter-Faith Dialogue.
  • This week we pray for Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland. Those who continue to live in substandard housing, are unemployed, who do not have access to safe water or sanitation, who suffer from malnutrition and the effects of drought.

Beyond Music Festival

May 27, 2016 by Church Office

It used to be called Black Stump, but now it is a little different, a little closer and a little better! Beyond is full of diverse music, good food, thought provoking speakers, enticing stalls, good coffee, and nature. Held from 30th September to 3rd October at Greenhills near the cotter (20 minutes’ drive away) this is a great opportunity to gather and relax. Over the past few years Gungahlin Uniting has had a group who have camped together while enjoying the freedom to do their own thing. Tickets are on sale now online! If you want to know what it is like talk to The Warren family or the Martin family.

Uniting Affordable Housing Campaign

May 27, 2016 by Church Office

This campaign has been established in response to church members concern that affordable housing is an issue for so many people in the community. The Uniting Church Social Justice Forum has asked that the following material be made available:

  • An email that explains why we have developed this material and what it is for
  • A two page briefing on negative gearing and capital gains tax discount- what they are- what the impacts are
  • A two page summary on impacts on young people
  • A two page outline on the positions of major parties and views of social commentators
  • A two page theological reflection
  • A longer background document that outlines some Uniting Church principles on taxation and provides the argument for reform, as well as assessing some counter arguments.

If you would like a copy please email Heather and I will forward it on to you.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Worship With Us

Every Sunday, 9:30am
Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
