Welcome to Gungahlin Uniting Church for the year ahead!
(a few words from the Minister – Rev. Mark)

Welcome to everyone who is with us today. If you are new, or have been a part of this congregation for longer, a warm welcome to you all. At Gungahlin Uniting we seek to be inclusive of all people and this is reflected in the diversity of the congregation. We are made up of many people of all ages, backgrounds, different languages, nationalities and theology. Part of the richness of this congregation is welcoming each other, talking to one another, and finding out where people have come from to be here at this time in their life!

Because of our diversity and the task we have of being church in creative and relevant ways, each Sunday at Gungahlin Uniting is slightly different.

Today in Worship
Today we acknowledge all the work done by many people in the congregation to contribute to our life. We also pray for our new Church Council for 2012; Matthew Grudnoff, Wayne Hart, Rosemary Sweet, Brian Lord, John McKenzie, Rob Tanton & Heather Lamb. Morning Tea is served in the middle of our worship, followed by Oasis for primary children, Mentors for our teenagers and the message, reflecting on today’s readings.

Boy’s Brigade Leaders
Each Wednesday night we have supported the work of Boy’s Brigade; a group for primary school/high school aged boys. This group encourages community work, social interaction, craft and learning, and spiritual growth and thought. For 2012, we are needing more leaders to help this group in its work. Leadership could be through working with small groups of boys, or taking on a support role in meeting parents/preparing drinks etc. If you would like to be involved please speak with Bruce Warren or Mark Faulkner.

Baptism Today
Today we welcome Kate and Kane Morse, their friends and family, as we celebrate God’s love through the Baptism of Molly and Josie.

Spring Getaway – 18th to 20th Nov 2011
For those attending next weekend’s camp, an email containing information about the camp will be sent out in the next couple of days. Please see Elizabeth if you do not receive this by Wednesday, or if you would prefer to receive a hard copy. If you have any questions in the interim, please ask Elizabeth (ph 6241 6343). Even though 40 from our congregation will be away, Pam Thompson will lead worship here at GUCCC at 9.30am next Sunday.

Baptism Next Sunday
Next Sunday we celebrate the baptism of Molly and Josie Morse, share in communion together, and then have a BBQ lunch. We look forward to having you with us.

Spring Getaway
18th to 20th Nov 2011
Spring Getaway is an opportunity for us to spend the weekend relaxing down at Fitzroy Falls. Accommodation is very comfortable, all meals are provided and the surrounds are lush and peaceful. If you haven’t already done so, get your camp registration forms and money to Elizabeth Phythian ASAP. We need all money and forms in by last Sunday!!!. If you would like to pay by EFT, please see/email Elizabeth for details. For those wishing to camp rather than stay in the cabin accommodation, please ensure you have an updated form (available in the foyer) as the original forms contained an error re the camping costs.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.
