Gungahlin Uniting Church has traditionally followed the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL or Lectionary). The long-established liturgical rhythms are followed by churches all over the world and give us a pattern by which we shape our worshipping year.
Each week the Lectionary offers us a Psalm, a reading from the Hebrew Scriptures, a Gospel reading and an Epistle reading (that is, another reading from book of the New Testament in the form of a letter from an Apostle).
Many find the practice of following the Lectionary helpful as it offers a place to begin and takes the “me” out of the equation and asks us to focus on a particular reading.
Instead of focussing on whatever issue has grabbed our attention for the week the Lectionary inspires us to explore the scripture and gives us something to work with.
You can download a pdf of this year’s Lectionary Calendar:

You can also access the Lectionary readings online on the Vanderbilt Divinity Library website.
If you would like the Bible readings in any other translation or language you can use the Bible Gateway website. At Gungahlin Uniting Church we use the Contemporary English Version (CEV) translation of the Bible, but you might prefer another translation.
Lectionary Resources
The Uniting Church in Australia Assembly has a list of Lectionary Resources that encourage us to engage with the themes and topics of the Lectionary Readings.
With Love to the World, a quarterly Uniting Church publication, provides daily commentary on all lectionary readings, along with other associated texts. With Love to the World helps readers make faith meaningful in daily life. If you would like a copy, they are available from our church. A donation of $5 is welcome if you are able, otherwise you may simply take a copy. Please contact the office.
