Bulletin – 02 Sep 2012

September 2, 2012 by Church Office

Today at Gungahlin Uniting Church
Welcome to everyone who is with us for worship today; may it be a time of faithful encouragement. At Gungahlin Uniting we usually share morning tea together in the middle of worship. Today our youth meet with the Minister in the first half of worship, then after Morning Tea, Oasis for our primary aged children meets in the courtyard rooms at the end of the passage. Younger children are part of the delight of our church and if you wish there are some activates for them near the big windows.

Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry
Last Sunday at our congregational meeting we were given a few different names and variations of those names as suggestions for our Food Pantry. The name that was strongly supported as a first choice or second choice was The Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry. From little things, big things grow!

National Church Life Survey
Last year our congregation participated in the NCLS as we have done in previous years. Our responses are very encouraging and you are invited to view them online or to have them emailed to you. If you would like to view them online, just go to the NCLS web site and put in our code: Profile Number HCWT8C. If you would like the results emailed to you at the end of this week, then please email Mark – minister@web1.gungahlinuniting.org

Pre-Christmas Craft Show – Weston Creek Uniting Church
26th October (10am-9pm) & 27th October (10am-4pm)

The Weston Creek of the Uniting Church is holding its annual Craft Show with a Christmas theme. The show will be officially opened on the Friday at 7pm. Supper of coffee and desert will also be available in the evening for a $5 donation.

Those in your congregation with appropriate skills may see this opportunity to exhibit and sell their items. Please ring (62871981) or email (wcuc@westneg.com.au) Weston Creek Uniting church office for application forms.

Black Stump
Black Stump is a Christian music festival held each year at Cataract Park just outside of Sydney. There is music of all types, speakers, stalls, good food and coffee. This year a good number from Gungahlin Uniting are going; Rowan & Margaret Ford, The Warren Family, Alison and John McKenzie, the Faulkner Family, with some other possible families from our church and beyond. If you would like to come along, speak with someone who is going for more information. It really is a relaxing, music filled, healthy weekend away held from 28-30th. September.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
