Lent at Gungahlin Uniting Church

25/02/2017 by Church Office

Lent is a time of 40 days before Easter and is part of the life of the church worldwide. In lent we reflect on the journey of Jesus towards the cross and it is a time for us to ponder our own faith journeys. Lent begins this year on Wednesday 1st March, which is called Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday there will be a short gathering at 8pm here at the church for anyone who wants to come along. At this service we recall our own mortality as we start the journey with Christ towards the cross.

Each Sunday in Lent we will also have a member of the congregation share a little of their life and faith journey. This is an opportunity for us to acknowledge that the Christian walk takes many paths and that faith weaves throughout all lives in different ways.

At the end of Lent we have Palm Sunday, Easter Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Ash Wednesday worship – Wednesday 1st March @ 8pm.
Every Sunday: 5th March – 9th April @ 9.30am. All age worship.
Lenten First Sunday Converse and Café – Sunday 5th March @ 6pm.
‘The Way of Suffering’- a conversation on the Garden of Gethsemane and human suffering-
Sunday 26th March @5pm
Lenten First Sunday Converse and Café- Sunday 2nd April @ 6pm
Palm Sunday – Sunday 9th April @ 9.30am.
Easter Thursday- Thursday 13th April @8pm
Good Friday – Friday 14th April @ 9.30am.
Easter Sunday – 16th April @ 9.30am.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.
