Inspired by Rachel Held Evans

February 4, 2020 by Darren Wright

Title:  Inspired

Author:  Rachel Held Evans

Pages:  236

Themes:  Bible, Story, Inspiration, Creation, Theology, Creativity, Gospels, War Stories, Songs, Wisdom

Audiobook:  We have a copy of this book as a CD in the library, you can also access the book via Audible and iTunes

Group Reading Guide: The author has written a reading guide for groups with conversation questions, scripture, activities for further exploration etc

Description

This was my (Darren) favourite book of 2018, its a love letter to the bible, full of personal testimony, deep theology, creative story telling, poetry, humour and passion.

Inspired is full of creative ways to enter the stories of the bible, Rachel speaks of how she has been challenged by and inspired by a variety of texts, and in doing so opens the bible up in a way that very few books have.

This book will open up the bible to those who read it, to the bible’s wonder, poetry and prose, it’ll invite readers to wrestle with the bible, and in ding so find inspiration.

Get to know the author:

Tragically the author, Rachel Held Evans passed away not that long ago and will be greatly missed, her writing can be found on her website and she had written a number of books before Inspired, I highly recommend Searching For Sunday.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
