Bulletin – 05 Jun 2011

05/06/2011 by Church Office

Gungahlin Uniting Book Reading Group
Meets every second Wednesday night at 8.30pm at The George Harcourt Inn at Gold Creek. Everyone is welcome. Our next book is “Happiness” by Richard Layard. If you are interested please speak with Rob Tanton or Matt Grudnoff.

Grow One
Last Sunday we asked the congregation to indicate their level of giving to the church over the coming year so as to help us plan and budget ahead. At Gungahlin Uniting we do this each year and we call it Grow One. Asking people to indicate how much they feel they can give financially helps us plan responsibly our own work and giving to the wider church.

If you were away, you might like to take the opportunity to indicate how much you can give, by filling in the form, placing it in an envelope, and placing it in the offering bag when it comes around. You pledge will be totally confidential – only our treasurer sees the information, and you are given the option not to include your name if you wish.

Church Choir
The GUC Choir meets every first Thursday of the month at 8pm at the church to practise. We are currently practising two songs for a church performance in September. If you like singing, and want to join a small and informal choir, please contact Robert Tanton.

State of Origin (that’s football for the uneducated!)
The 2011 State of Origin series is underway with a win to Queensland last month. The second game will be played on Wednesday 15th June starting at 8:00pm…..as most of you will already know! While it would be great to go to the ANZ Stadium in Sydney to watch the event, a suggestion has been made that we should be able to watch the game at GUCCC using the large projectors and sound system in the main auditorium at GUCCC. All ex Boof-heads, families, friends, rugby fans are invited. The suggestion is that we share in a meal (junk food and pizza would be great) as we watch the game. BYO everything.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
