Bulletin – 13 Nov 2011

November 13, 2011 by Church Office

Baptism Today
Today we welcome Kate and Kane Morse, their friends and family, as we celebrate God’s love through the Baptism of Molly and Josie.

Spring Getaway – 18th to 20th Nov 2011
For those attending next weekend’s camp, an email containing information about the camp will be sent out in the next couple of days. Please see Elizabeth if you do not receive this by Wednesday, or if you would prefer to receive a hard copy. If you have any questions in the interim, please ask Elizabeth (ph 6241 6343). Even though 40 from our congregation will be away, Pam Thompson will lead worship here at GUCCC at 9.30am next Sunday.

With Love to the World!
The latest edition of With Love to the World is available in the foyer from today. With Love to the World is a daily devotional published by the Uniting Church with readings, commentary, and prayer points. This edition covers Advent and Christmas through to the end of January. Copies are $4 which can be popped in the box on the foyer table.

The Journey… Advent Bible studies
Starting today at 6pm and running for five weeks, you are invited to come along to Advent Bible studies and reflection as we look at the Journey of Mary and Joseph preparing for the birth of Jesus the Christ. These studies use a DVD presented by Adam Hamilton (similar to our Lenten studies) which will take us to Israel as we consider the events leading to the birth of Jesus. There will also be a time of reflection, reading and conversation.

Open to anyone who would like to come along! If you are able, bring a plate of sandwiches to share as a starter to our evenings together. If you would like more information please speak with Rev. Mark.

New Church Council
The congregation has elected our Church Council for 2012

  • Wayne Hart 2 years willing to be treasurer
  • Brian Lord 2 years
  • Rosemary Sweet 2 years
  • John McKenzie 1 year
  • Rob Tanton 1 year
  • Heather Lamb continues on Church Council through 2012
  • Matt Grudnoff continues through 2012 and is willing to Chair

Church Council has also affirmed that Gloria Ku will be our assistant treasurer.

In acknowledgement of all the tasks that people undertake to support the life of our congregation, we have our Service of Commitment to Christ on Sunday 27th. November.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.

Worship With Us

Every Sunday, 9:30am
Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre
108 The Valley Avenue

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
