What to Expect – Families & Children

Please note: We have recommenced gathered worship at Gungahlin UCA though on a different scale and format. Not all groups have recommenced due to the advice provided by the ACT Government and Uniting Church for managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Please refer to the Worship With Us page for current arrangements or contact the Church Office for further information.

We try really hard to be an intergenerational worshiping community, which means we have people of all ages (literally 0 to 93!) worshiping and fellowshiping together.

The noise and vibrancy of children are welcome, we provide a safe place for kids and their families to gather and share in worship and prayer together. We also have a growing list of resources for families on site and on our website to help them pray and live out their faith at home.

Oasis:

Oasis, (Kid’s Church) is curated for kids in preschool to year 6 in the second half of worship on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sunday with a program that runs alongside the themes we’re exploring in worship. In August & September 2019 Oasis is exploring the Lord’s Prayer together.

Oasis leaders and support people all have Working With Vulnerable People checks.

Other Sundays:

On the 2nd Sunday we gather for whole community worship around a table and share in communion together.

5th Sundays are often times where we invite people into a more interactive space where adults and children can worship in more creative ways together.

Come along, we have many young families in our community ready to welcome you into the community, and who support each other in their role as parents/carers/guardians.

Playground:

We also have an outdoor playground on site that provides a safe place for kids to play while parents/guardians/carers can enjoy fellowship and conversation together while supervising.

Worship with us

Every Sunday we join in worship on site at the church building and online, you can find out how to join worship online here.

Worship seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all. In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to everyone, and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too. For more information on what worship looks like during this time of social distancing, keep on reading.

Where Are We?

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.
