The Friendship Conversation Group is chiefly for people who do not have English as their first language. Its aim is:
- to improve spoken English ability;
- to provide an opportunity to practise English in a non-threatening environment;
- to provide a setting for improving friendship between people of different backgrounds; and
- to help a group of people in the community with a particular need.
At present the group meets each Saturday morning at 11am at the Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre. Two competent English speakers will be present to assist.
It is expected that people can understand a little English. The main activity is conversation, discussing themes people are interested in. English grammar is not covered.
The group is open to people of any nationality or religion.
