Our Community Gardener and now our… Community Cook & Kitchen Assistant

20/08/2016 by Church Office

We are thankful to have Riyadh as our gardener. Riyadh comes to garden each Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Our Grounds have been looking wonderful and through the sharing of the ride on mower with the Salvation Army and the fact that Riyadh mows their grass too the bonds between us have been closer. Riyadh has also single headedly constructed the new Food Garden shed over the past week. We are thankful to have Riyadh as part of our congregation.

We are now also able to offer work to Fereshteh Nurzod who will be our Community Cook & Kitchen Assistant. Fereshteh will come in each Wednesday morning, starting this week, to help with some of the Food Pantry packaging of bread and will also use her gifts to cook whatever she chooses. Her cooking will be available for the Food Pantry Café each Thursday and perhaps for morning tea on Sundays. This work will unfold over time, but we are thankful to have Fereshteh and Fuad and their family as part of our congregation.

You can support these roles through the Food Gardener’s Support Fund.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.
