Prayer Points – 03 Feb 2013

03/02/2013 by Church Office

For our GUC Community:

  • We pray for Kanthi Fernando and for her daughter Charu and their family following the death of Chris.
  • We pray for Jim Watt and for Marion as she supports him at this time while he awaits surgery tomorrow.
  • We pray for Wanda and Steven Beeby and their family as they surround Wanda’s father, Hendrik, who is in intensive care in Canberra. We pray for Hendrik’s wife who is visiting Australia with her husband.
  • We pray for John and Alison McKenzie and for John’s father after the death of John’s mother in early January.
  • We pray for our children’s and youth groups as we begin a new year and for those who lead them. Our Playgroup; Boy’s Brigade; Oasis; Billabong.
  • We pray for our unfolding food pantry and for the coordinators who meet this week.
  • We pray for a treasurer for our congregation and for Narelle Dodd and Gloria Ku who are overseeing our finances at this time. We pray for Kate Morse who begins as our Admin Officer this week and will take on the bookkeeping work of the assistant treasurer.
  • We pray for our Minister, Mark, and for our Church Council in their work. For our Chair, Matt, our Secretary, Heather.
  • We give thanks for all who support the work of our church through cleaning, serving, playing, organising, leading, visiting and praying.
  • We pray for all who are with family and friends over Christmas and January

For our World: Ireland; United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales
Pray for:

  • Immigrants and asylum seekers who seek a better life in these countries.
  • Reconciliation and an end to enmity between peoples.
  • Strength for those who combat racism.
  • Churches which try to be faithful to Christ in the midst of secularization and change.
  • Those who feel they have been left behind: the homeless and unemployed, those whose education seems inadequate or their skills out of date, and those who are long-term patients in mental hospitals.
  • Those whose industry has been ravaged: the coal miners and slate workers who know of pit and quarry closures and who suffer emphysema and pneumoconiosis, the farm and land workers who have lost their livelihoods and have seen their communities changed dramatically, the factory workers who have lost their jobs, the young who cannot find work, and the elderly who depend on support in residential homes.

  • Romans 10:9-10
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.

Worship With Us

Every Sunday, 9:30am
Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
