Church Manse…

September 8, 2017 by Church Office

Thank you to everyone in the congregation that helped to get the manse ready for sale – for the help at the working bee, for the handy-person jobs that have been done over the last month or so. The tenants have moved out and the Church Council decided to style the house so it didn’t look so empty.

Conversation on Gender Diversity, Faith & Marriage Equality

September 8, 2017 by Church Office

The Uniting Church is noted for its diversity and its desire to be inclusive. While we welcome people from many linguistic and cultural backgrounds, we also affirm those of diverse sexual orientations. However it is recognised that people may have questions regarding sexuality and would like to be better informed as citizens and Christians. The upcoming plebiscite on same sex marriage highlights that there are many differing opinions not only in the community at large but also within the wider Christian community.

prayer

  • We pray for our Playgroup families- for the health and wellbeing of both parents and children and for calm and quiet times amidst the busyness of family life.
  • This week we pray for Wattle Park- for the health and well-being of the congregation.
  • This week we pray for Ghana and Nigeria. Give thanks for Christians and Muslims who take risks to work for dialogue and reconciliation between the two faith communities.

Worship on Sunday 10th Sep.

September 4, 2017 by Church Office

9:30am All Age Worship
Rev. Jonathan Barker

Bible Readings
Exodus 3: 1-20; Matthew 17:1-98

This Sunday we are delighted to welcome Amandeep Kaur who will be baptised during worship.

We continue the series THE GREAT ESCAPE featuring the episode in Moses’ life when he not only meets God on the mountain, but realises there’s an end to running. A compassionate God now sends him to lead the liberation movement to free the enslaved Hebrews from a despotic Pharaoh. We also have communion and a BBQ after the service.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Every Sunday, 9:30am
Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
