Bulletin – 02 Sep 2012

Today at Gungahlin Uniting Church
Welcome to everyone who is with us for worship today; may it be a time of faithful encouragement. At Gungahlin Uniting we usually share morning tea together in the middle of worship. Today our youth meet with the Minister in the first half of worship, then after Morning Tea, Oasis for our primary aged children meets in the courtyard rooms at the end of the passage. Younger children are part of the delight of our church and if you wish there are some activates for them near the big windows.

Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry
Last Sunday at our congregational meeting we were given a few different names and variations of those names as suggestions for our Food Pantry. The name that was strongly supported as a first choice or second choice was The Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry. From little things, big things grow!

Today at Gungahlin Uniting Church
Welcome to everyone who is with us for worship today. We seek to be an inclusive Christian community for all people. Today we have morning tea in the middle of worship followed by our different groups. There is Oasis for the primary aged children which meets in the courtyard rooms at the end of the corridor. There is Billabong for our High school and youth which meets in the quiet room off the foyer. There is also a message with readings and song back in the worship space.

Today – Congregational Meeting
Following worship today we have an important congregational meeting to which you are invited even if you just want to hear some of the news and information on our church. Congregational meetings at Gungahlin Uniting are about making important decisions through conversation and consensus. Today we will hear from our treasurer as we affirm the budget for 2012/13. We will also make some important decisions on the food pantry around our plans to go ahead, plans for the store and expenditure on this mission.

Baptism of Owen and Levi King!
Today we celebrate the baptism of Owen and Levi King. We welcome them, their parents Simon and Brooke and their families as we share together in this sacrament through which we celebrate God’s love and grace.

Congregational Meeting
Our next Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday 19th. August following worship. At this meeting the 2012/13 budget will be presented for approval. There will also be the latest information given on the Food Pantry which, if we are to go ahead, will require the congregation to affirm this is the direction we see our mission heading, affirm the expenditure to set it up, and affirm the building of a store from which to operate.

About GUC

We are a community on a journey. We’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving intergenerational and multicultural community located near the Gungahlin town centre.

Gungahlin Uniting Church is an open and inclusive community.  You are welcome to join us and participate in the life of our community as we experience life, God and seek to follow the way of Christ.
