Advent Wreath

November 18, 2016 by Church Office

advent-blue_0
Each year in Advent (the four weeks before Christmas) and on Christmas day we have an Advent Wreath with candles. Each week we light one more candle on the wreath and as we do this year we will reflect on hope, joy, peace & love. If you would like to volunteer to prepare the greenery around the wreath for one week this Advent, please put your name on the list in the foyer. The candles are all provided as is the framework for the wreath.

Our Church at Prayer…

November 18, 2016 by Church Office

Inviting you to think about our own church community, the wider church, the world!
prayer

  • We pray for people who are suffering in their health and wellbeing; mental health, physical health and spiritual wellbeing.
  • This week we pray for congregations in our presbytery who are struggling to find their vision for the future.
  • This week we pray for Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea. Give thanks for the rainforest and its gift of oxygen; for mission schools and those who have courage to fight corruption.

Worship on Sunday 20th November

November 18, 2016 by Church Office

9:30am All Age Worship
Rev. Mark Faulkner

Bible Readings
Jeremiah 23:1-6; Luke 1:68-79
Colossians 1:11-20; Luke 23:33-43

This Sunday, 9.30am, we gather for worship which will include our Service of Commitment to Christ.  This is an opportunity to acknowledge all the gifts that each of us bring to our Chrisitan community and through it to our work in the world.  We will also pray for our Church Council elected to serve in 2017.  After morning tea Oasis (Primary aged) will gather preparing for Christmas and Billabong (Youth) will meet with Rowan and Margaret Ford.

Church Spring Picnic, this Sunday, 3pm @ Black Mountain Peninsula.  Come along for a relaxed gathering by the lake!  Bring a rug, or chairs, and whatever you would like to drink.  The church will provide fruit and slice/cake to share.  Here’s the flyer with the map!  If anyone wants to bring a cricket ball, bats, stumps, helmets, leg guards, mouth guards, and an umpire’s whistle you would be welcome!

I look forward to seeing you.

Mark

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Every Sunday, 9:30am
Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.

In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
