Free food and essential items for Canberrans in need during lockdown

August 18, 2021 by Darren Wright

The ACT Government has responded quickly to provide emergency food relief for Canberrans most in need during this lockdown.

The ACT Government has partnered with VolunteeringACT and the State Emergency Service to provide emergency food to those in need.

Any Canberran who is significantly and adversely impacted by this lockdown and is unable to feed their family is encouraged to call 1800 43 11 33

Callers will be linked with a VolunteeringACT staff member who will place a shopping order on their behalf and members of the SES will then collect the order and deliver it to them.

The SES are unable to enter a person’s home, so the groceries will be left on the doorstep after a knock at the door.

Regional

We pray with the Canberra Region Presbytery as we pray for the Queanbeyan Uniting Church community

  • The Queanbeyan Uniting Church (QUC) has just had a minister in placement, Rev Apelu Tielu, in February this year. Please pray for God’s help and guidance as Apelu and the QUC community work together in developing and working out their mission of being a Good News and Good Neighbour Church.
  • A lot of work was accomplished in the past years and we would be grateful for prayers as we consolidate that work and how it can contribute to spiritual growth.
  • We are also working on meeting the diverse worship needs of our diverse community. We’d be grateful for prayers for guidance in this area, as we also face the challenges that have been brought about by the pandemic.
  • Our old and other vulnerable people have been greatly affected by the pandemic, as many are afraid to venture out and come to church. Please pray for the wellbeing of our aged and vulnerable people.
