Home Brewed Worship – Easter 2020

April 9, 2020 by Darren Wright

Greetings in the name of Christ

This year’s Easter Worship is an invitation to find time and space to enter the story of the journey to the cross.

We ask you to carve out some space in your homes that is sacred, (please send in photos of where you’re worshipping from at home this weekend).

We’ve created a resource for you all, starting from the Stations of The Cross from the people behind Illustrated Ministry in the US, we’ve added to it some personal reflections and prayers from people in the GUC community that invite you to imagine how the journey connects with your life this year.

For those with young families we’ve emailed out a copy of the Stations of The Cross Family Devotional to help you journey through easter together.

Most of you should have received a hard copy of the material by now, we had our trusty easter bunnies hopping around the ACT to get them to you, but if you missed out for some reason (we’re sorry) here are download links:

a) Illustrated Ministry – Stations of the Cross Colouring Sheets (Link Removed after Easter)

b) GUC – Stations Of The Cross Worship Experience 2020

c) Illustrated Ministry – Family Devotional Guide for young families – (Link Removed after Easter)

Please be aware that we purchased the rights to use the Illustrated Ministry material for our community, so I’d ask you not to pass the material onto others.

We’ve also recorded some Easter stories from The Growing in God’s Love Story Bible (thank you to flyaway books for permission to share them with you) and from The Mystic Bible (Thank you Alexandra Sangster) for your use over the weekend. Follow the links below for the videos.

May your easter weekend be a blessed one and may you come face to face with the living Christ in your homes this year.

Shalom

Darren Wright

Easter Saturday

On Saturday I released a piece reflecting on the space between the feast and the tomb.

Here’s ink to the written reflection.

GUC – Easter Morning Tea on Zoom

Join us again for Morning tea from 10am to 11:30am on Zoom.

Zoom is a video conferencing platform, a number of churches are currently using it to meet together online.

One of the good things about Zoom is that you do not need to download the app (but if you do the app is easy to use), all you need to do is click on the link and if you have a video camera and a microphone (laptop, desktop, tablet or phone) you can be linked into a chat with many of your friends.

For a simple guide to Zoom check out this handy guide

For more tech support contact Darren, ask a friend or look on the Zoom website for video tutorials.

Join us every Sunday for Morning Tea on Zoom:
10am – 11:30am

Easter Videos:

The UCA President and the Moderator of the UCA Synod of NSW & ACT both released Easter messages, you can catch them here:

Dedrie Palmer, the President of the UCA has released an Easter message for everyone here:
“From death and devastation new life emerges”

Rev Simon Hansford has released an Easter Message “Easter is hope – and this Easter long weekend let’s reflect on the positive message of the Holy Week story – that there in a light at the end of the tunnel. We are all in this together.”.

Home Brewed Worship – Palm Sunday

April 4, 2020 by Darren Wright

Welcome to Worship

This week’s Home Brewed Worship provides you all a number of ways to enter into prayer and to explore the Gospel story. If you’re at home with family, a partner, a friend or a spouse please consider working through some of this with them. If you’re alone, consider phoning someone else and inviting them to join you in worship.

Carve out some space sacred space in your home, perhaps you have candle, some colourful material, a cross, a bible, some pictures of the world, artwork or images of Jesus….

You don’t need to use all of this material, nor do you need to do it all in one sitting, perhaps some of these prayers and music can travel with you throughout the week.

Shalom

Darren Wright

As we enter into worship we invite you to contemplate these 3 questions:

  • What am I grateful for this week?
  • Who will I check in with / make contact with this week?
  • Where will I seek, or create beauty this week?

About GUC

We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.

We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.
